Fred Sirieix’s daughter has made her Olympic debut in Tokyo in the Women’s 10m Platform diving preliminaries.

Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix is Team GB’s youngest diver at just 16 years old, and is competing in her first Olympics at Tokyo 2020.

The First Dates star, 49, has been cheering Andrea on from afar after he was unable to watch her dive in person due to overseas spectators not being allowed in the stadiums amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Fred shared photos of Andrea competing, adding: ‘You are living your dream mon [duck emoji]. We are all with you. Enjoy x’.

With Andrea placing 10th in the preliminaries, the proud dad also shared his joy that she made it through to the next stage, adding: ‘Well done for making the semi final mon [duck emoji]. So proud of you.’

Fred shares daughter Andrea and son Lucien, 10, with his ex Alex, who he was with for 12 years, and is currently engaged to a new partner.

He recently opened up about not being able to be there to watch Andrea’s first Olympics, telling  iNews: ‘This year is the first year I can’t travel and I have to say that watching her on TV during the Diving World Cup in Tokyo in May this year was the most nerve-wracking feeling I’ve ever had watching her dive.

‘Normally because you’re there you feel more a part of it, but watching on TV you feel completely powerless as a parent, it’s very hard.

‘When you watch football or a 100 metre race, you can be detached enough to enjoy it, but watching my daughter in a competition like the Olympics will be like an out of body experience. I won’t know whether to sit down, stand up or turn around.’

The semi-final and final of Andrea’s event will take place on Thursday August 5, to determine whether the youngster will take home a medal.

Currently a maximum of 10,000 spectators home spectators are allowed to attend the Tokyo Olympics, with overseas visitors banned entirely amid the ongoing pandemic.

Masks are mandatory in the venues at all times and spectators will also have to provide proof of vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test to be allowed entry.
